NeW Space is a $95 million landmark education precinct in the heart of Newcastle's CBD, harnessing the latest in technology and innovation in teaching and learning to deliver a world-class student experience.

NeW Space is part of UON’s City campus, offering University-supported activities across all faculties including:

The University of Newcastle's music Conservatorium prides itself on engaging with the community by delivering an extensive range of music lessons. Whether it's classical, rock, jazz, pop, folk, electronic... individual or ensemble, our staff are experts in their fields who cater for all ages and levels of experience. The Conservatorium's 400 seat concert hall located in the heart of the Newcastle CBD is a fantastic location to hold concerts, lectures, master classes, private functions and more.

University House was constructed between 1937 and 1939 for the Newcastle Electricity Supply Council Administration and was originally known as N.E.S.C.A House. The interior, designed by Guy Allbut, originally comprised a demonstration theatre, showroom, offices and staff accommodation. Recently restored by the University of Newcastle, the building is now home to the School of Creative Industries design students.

We are thrilled to be opening the doors to multiple spaces across University House including the original the Demonstration Theatre, Maker Space and main exhibition area.

Contemporary and dynamic, Watt Space operates in the University’s Newcastle City precinct in an award winning re-purposed civic building, Northumberland House. Its heritage facade opens to industrial style galleries within, designed by UON alumnus Andrew Donaldson. Watt Space has acted as an inspirational cultural hub for our students and community for almost 30 years.

Located in one of Newcastle’s most significant heritage buildings, The Lock-Up is an award winning independent multidisciplinary contemporary arts space and inner city creative hub. Through curated artistic and public programs, The Lock-Up aims to stimulate and challenge audiences and to promote diverse current cross-platform and experimental practices of local, national and international artists. The program includes exhibitions, events, site-specific installation and performances, residencies, creative talks, workshops and a variety of activities designed to engage the arts community and the public and to encourage the sharing of ideas and creative vision.
